Counseling

Services

I am a therapist working in North Carolina. I offer teletherapy to any North Carolina resident.

  • The relationship created between a client and therapist greatly impacts the benefit of therapy. Therefore, a 15-minute phone conversation can provide an opportunity to determine if we might work well together.

  • The first session usually lasts 60-90 minutes. It is a time for you to get a feel for me and for me to get an idea of who you are and what you are hoping to achieve in counseling.

  • Follow up sessions will be scheduled based on need. Initially appointments are often scheduled every week or every other week. However, every situation is unique.

About Me

I find meaning and purpose in being with people during “the hard stuff.”

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW License # C005718). I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work and then received my clinical license to provide therapy in 2007.

I have been supporting individuals coping with unwanted health challenges and life transitions for 20 years. I have experience in hospice care, palliative care, family medicine and oncology.

If you are looking for counseling due to any of the following, I might be the right therapist for you.

  • Coping with uncertainty

  • Situational depression or anxiety

  • Processing the impacts of an illness or treatment (including unwanted changes with your body)

  • Decisions that reflect your values

  • Communication needs with friends/family or your healthcare team

  • Existential topics such as meaning, purpose, “why me?” etc.

  • Work / life balance

  • Caregiver stress (personal or professional)

  • Medical care burnout

  • Grief and loss (related to death or other losses)

I utilize a variety of treatment approaches including mindfulness, acceptance and commitment theory and cognitive behavioral theory while always incorporating a focus on self-compassion.

You might still be curious about me. I live in the Winston-Salem area with my family. I am a wife and mother of three (if you include the dog). No one can make life easy… but I will work hard to help you along the way.

It Can Help

Mental health interventions cannot reverse diagnoses, difficult life transitions, or losses. However, interventions may help you cope and process your experience.

I would love for us to explore ways you want to maintain a sense of purpose and meaning while living with life’s challenges.

Currently I am not in network with any insurance; however, I can give you a detailed receipt (Superbill) once you’ve paid for your session(s), upon request, that you may file directly with your insurance provider. Payment is due at time of service, but the Superbill allows you to try to get reimbursement from your insurance company. Please contact your company prior to scheduling to determine what they will reimburse.

Rates:

Initial Visit (90ish min.) $175

Follow Up Visits (50ish min.) $140

Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “good faith estimate” which provides you with an idea of how much your medical care will cost.
Medical providers are required by law to provide an estimated bill for medical services and items for individuals without insurance or who are not using insurance.
  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. this includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gove/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

Whether or not we work together, my hope for you is …

I hope you learn to see yourself with kinder eyes. I hope you learn that your days do not have to be filled with everything the world says they must be. I hope you find the beauty in letting yourself rest, in letting yourself be. I hope you will nurture yourself in the simplest ways, I hope you give yourself the benefit of the doubt. I hope you will see your strengths a little more than your weaknesses. I hope you know that you are more than you let yourself believe.
